Canusa Corporation purchased the building at 1532 Thames Street (10) years ago. Following the purchase, small renovations were completed to make it habitable. This building was the first original coffee house on the East coast built in the late 1800's.

Canusa wanted to maintain a large part of the original structure, including interior brick walls, and wood post and beam construction. They also wanted to create a state of the art office space for their growing recycling enterprise.

This placed a major emphasis on "green" products.

Part of the new construction was to replace the roof with a new reflective style roof along with all new HVAC units providing many LEED points and "Green" Certification.

The interior offices also used a majority of "green" products, including cork flooring and carpet from recycled materials. Cardboard and seaweed were used as decorative accents on the walls.

This is truly a unique space on the inside with old style brick construction on the outside.

"You did a great job of guiding us through preconstruction all the way through completion of the renovation. I always felt that no issue was too large for us to work through and it gave me great comfort that you were there as our partner." (read more)
